Return to the Place You Already Are is the title of a 2019 exhibition of my work and the work of printmaker, Bob Erickson. The title is taken from a quote from my yoga teacher, Connie Glore. She attributes her paraphrase to author Robert Jacob.  The title serves as an invitation to accept and embrace the present time and place.  In the best moments, making art and experiencing art are meditative, focused, in-the-moment, and fulfilling for the artist, and hopefully, for the audience. Sprawl (Map of Atlanta). 2019. Day Lily stalks, insect pins. 24x24x4”

The arrangement of Sprawl is based on a map of urban sprawl in Atlanta, Georgia. The work is intended to quietly suggest the possibility of an arboreal sprawl, where the trees overpower the human capacity to cover the earth in asphalt and concrete.

Fluctuations of the Mind. 2019. Mountain laurel twigs, inkjet on paper, insect pins. 24x40”

Fluctuations of the Mind is the result of revisiting and reconfiguring collected bits and pieces of projects from the last 15 years of my studio practice. The ellipses were culled from cut and layered inkjet collages dating back to 2004, and some of the twig tetrahedrons are from 2014
